Project Statement

In this project I was met with the idea of creating a piece that encourages sharing. I was reminded of how my family would rip the lid off of the takeout boxes from Panda Express to use as a plate for one of us to eat off of. Then, we would share the food with each other and have a bit of every dish. Growing up my family always eaten food family style, which is a cultural tradition common to Asian culture. That is why I decided to redesign the takeout box to include tear-off bowls and a spoon for serving food. The main body houses the dish and everyone shares and serves it into the bowls. I utilized papier-mâché to create the piece.
