Project Statement

In this project page I have compiled some boards I made for ideation in my Accessory Design class with Adam Sternbach. Included in this project page are the following: an aesthetic board, mood board, customer board, and materiality board. Each of these boards helped me visualize my brand identity and what kind of items I wanted to focus on designing and creating a line of. I really enjoyed the process of collecting images and collaging them together into a visual board to help portray the emotions and feelings of the collection. For my collection I wanted to focus on creating a very cutesy, cozy, and ephemeral brand identity, I utilized the softness of fiber works and knit textiles as well as some impressionistic paintings to visualize the warmth and cozy feeling.

I utilized my aesthetic board as a more abstract visualization of the overall vibe of my collection. It does not focus as much on specific material but rather images that convey a specific emotion and aesthetic quality.

The mood board helped me convey the emotions and feeling of coziness, this board is more specific and features more form, material, and colors.

My customer board helped me think about who my target audience is, who would be interested in my product. In my board I focused on what my client would probably enjoy doing such as, baking, reading, stopping to pet a cat, take fit pics, thrift, and support slow fashion/handmade small businesses.

This knit swatch is my materiality board made from materials I am exploring! Rather than taping the swatches and beads to the board I made them into the actual board and I think it showcases the materiality much better.

This materiality board is comprised of ten different types of yarn, six different buttons, two glass beads, one mini zipper, and thirty-nine hand-stitched tiny iridescent seed beads. I wanted to explore how different weights of yarn would interact with different needle sizes to create different weaves.
