Project Statement

In an exploratory series of knit pieces I created two accessory collections and utilized vision boards to explore different aesthetics and goals for each line. To get a well-rounded understanding on the collections I made boards for the aesthetic, mood, customer, and materiality for each collection. These boards helped me visualize the brand identity and what kind of items I wanted to focus on designing and creating. For my collections I utilized the materiality of fiber works and knit textiles to add to the mood and aesthetic for each line. I target two different seasons for the two collections created: The Cozy Collection and The Coastal Collection. One for cold weather and one for warm weather. The initial winter collection focuses on creating cozy, comfy and substantial pieces whereas the summer collection uses lacework and light weight yarns to create open weaves perfect for the beach.

The mood board helped me convey the emotions and feeling of coziness, this board is more specific and features more form, material, and colors.

My customer board helped me think about who my target audience is, who would be interested in my product. In my board I focused on what my client would probably enjoy doing such as, baking, reading, stopping to pet a cat, take fit pics, thrift, and support slow fashion/handmade small businesses.

This knit swatch is my materiality board made from materials I am exploring! Rather than taping the swatches and beads to the board I made them into the actual board and I think it showcases the materiality much better.

This materiality board is comprised of ten different types of yarn, six different buttons, two glass beads, one mini zipper, and thirty-nine hand-stitched tiny iridescent seed beads. I wanted to explore how different weights of yarn would interact with different needle sizes to create different weaves.
